Now the last tip on how to make people feel comfortable referring you to others in their network.

This is a relatively small change that will be very powerful. It is just changing the way you ask the question.

Typically, the question is “Do you know anyone?” That question is almost guaranteed to get you a “No.” Change the way you ask the question and you will get different information. It all has to do with how our brains work when we’re asked questions.

All you really need to do is change your question.

Simple Change More Powerful Than You Might Think:

Instead of asking “Do you know anyone?” Ask this instead: “Who do you know?”

And astonishingly, people will start thinking of people in their network they will be willing to refer to you.

So, with those three considerations  addressing their inner dialogue of concern, being specific about the people that you would like to meet, and that small change but powerful change in your question, means that they will willingly refer you to others and you’ll be able to keep on meeting people and getting referred.

These changes will open up the hidden job market to you. you’ll be much more visible in the hidden job market. And you will start hearing about more and more job leads.

This can pay off for the rest of your career. You may never need to do a typical job search again.
